![]() |
This, the second ICOMOS–IAU Thematic Study on astronomical heritage, follows on from the first which was published in 2010. It explores a range of sites from prehistoric monuments to modern observatories, and covers traditional practices using star observations for water management through to technological developments for space exploration. There is particular emphasis on the recognition and preservation of the value of dark skies at both cultural and natural sites and landscapes.
This is a joint publication between Ocarina Books and the International Council for Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS). A limited paperback edition, published on 30 November 2017, is now available for purchase. An e-book version was published on 30 June 2017 and is downloadable for free.
